Home Visits

For some clients home visits from the therapist have some distinct advantages over visits to one of our clinics. If you have mobility issues, anxiety or simply wish for a consultation in a more private setting, then one of our therapists will be happy to attend your property to provide our services. The assessment and treatment you receive during a home visit will the same process that is delivered in our clinics. It will consist of a subjective examination where the therapist asks questions about the circumstances of the injury and how it affects your daily life. Followed by a thorough physical examination, testing various aspects including muscle strength, joint flexibility and symptoms of pain, appropriate to the condition you present with.

The findings of the assessment and will lead the therapist to develop a personalised treatment plan to address your symptoms and achieve your desired rehabilitation goals. The goals of the treatment will be discussed and agreed with you prior to treatment to ensure your comfortable proceeding. The therapist will bring with them any equipment required to carry out treatment and will make use of whatever space is available to provide effective rehabilitation.

Treatment may include a mixture of hands on mobilisations and massage techniques, stretches and a tailored exercise programme to maintain and improve recovery between treatment sessions. All our therapists are experienced and fully qualified to provide safe effective treatment. If you require the services of a different type of clinician they will be happy to refer you, to ensure you receive the best possible care. None of the treatments you receive will be painful, but you may feel stiff or tired the following day, which is normal until the injured structures progress in their recovery.

Please note that in order to physically examine you or conduct treatment the therapist may need access to the affected area of your body. It is advisable to wear appropriate clothing that you can move comfortably in and roll up or remove as required. Wearing a vest top and shorts as a base layer is good planning, but if the idea of physical examination makes you uncomfortable then having a friend present can provide support.
